In my last article, I had promised to update readers about our progress. You will recall we had given us a deadline to either make it or perish.
We made this resolve on August 1, when we told ourselves that if we don’t make it by September 30, we will completely shut down our company. This meant we have 120 turns of the clock. Calculating backward, we only have 90 turns of the clock remaining and then we are done.
This deadline is important because, after exactly 30 more turns of the clock, we will decide if we should start to wind down operations.
A bit about our operations:
CoWonders is a fast growing coworking and community events’ company with 5 centers in 3 different locations across Pune. Our services include wifi, coffee, storage and house-keeping services.
Our recently launched Club CoWonders plan to offer our clients all 5 center access, event passes, conference room time, coffee and wifi and loads more bundled into a monthly subscription.
Our first 1500 sq ft center in Marvel Feugo, Magarpatta has 52 seats and offers state of art office space with modern design with loads of storage options to our clients.
If you see our business model it is all about traditional coworking and some more. Coworking spaces need customers and communities to stay open. With the COVID, things haven’t been easy.
Last 45 days, have seen us call about 2000 people so far to invite them to join our increasing tribe of coworkers. This is close to 45 persons a day. Other than calling, we stopped all activities.
But prospects are adamant. They just don’t want to come back … at least not yet!
We need something more to convince them to come out of their houses. People are home because of fear or other reasons. We are told all the time, our company has to patient till the vaccine is found or people are fully fed up from staying indoors all the time.
We started thinking aloud about how much more could we offer to convince people to come and see us. We started by offering ‘free coworking’. At first, we thought this would be good for advertising. But, there were no takers.
We were beginning to become captives of fear and anxiety rising for never-ending costs and no income. We had to do something fast.
It is then we decided to offer healthy breakfast delivery services as part of a subscription service. We think there is potential here for CoWonders to get clients interested.
This service will include breakfast with packaged coworking hours, free passes to use all our centers, wifi, coffee, event passes, conference room use for a small monthly subscription. Voila, Club CoWonders has arrived!
We have set up a WhatsApp business group to reach out to a virtual community since we don’t have a real community to connect with at the moment. We plan to add people to the group in the coming days to promote our Club CoWonders brand and increase stickiness.
